Broadly, online payment can be made through Credit Cards or Net Banking Account. Now-a-days, there are many Credit Cards available but all are aligned/linked to either of the two major players, i.e., Master Card or Visa. Net Banking refers to banking operations like fund transfer, etc., through the internet. Almost all banks permit net banking. There is no additional cost for consumers to avail either facility. It is generally true for all cards and all banks.
The Payment Process
The encrypted data is transferred through SSL (Secured Socket Layer) to the main server of Credit Card/bank through the net. The confirmation from the main server also comes in the net. In case of any mismatch of data or exceeding the limit, etc., proper warning messages are generated. The consumer does not have to pay anything for this service and the transaction become easier and quicker. Banks are also benefited in this process and save on time and costs. They also get more transactions/fund. A log of all
transactions is maintained by the Bank. All unsuccessful transactions are also logged with proper date and time stamping.
On confirmation of transaction from the main server, a receipt is generated by the Bank with the receipt and a transaction number. Later, in case of any discrepancy, the transaction can be traced/identified with this number. In case of loss of receipt, it is possible to generate duplicate receipts of the past successful transactions. Consumers can see the list of past successful transactions.
