Operation Performance Management

For effective management and performance improvement it is necessary to measure the various defined parameters of the process. Key Performance Indicator (KPI) provides the different parameters along with the measuring process. Once the things are measured, then they need to be presented effectively so that useful information can be derived from the raw data of KPI.

Operations Management is usually concerned with the efficient conversion of all resources into products or services for meeting the customer’s needs. This subject has its root in the school of scientific management which sometime termed as “Efficiency Oriented Management”. However, during the last three decades, it has started analysing a problem from holistic or systems approach by integrating supplier, producer and customers. This viewpoint has resulted in the evolution of new paradigm called customer satisfaction and delightment.

The philosophy of Total Quality Management (TQM) has enabled to achieve this delighment. The prefixing of the world ‘TOTAL’ in Quality Management has introduced a sea change in the approach. TQM uses a variety of tools for attaining its objectives of which seven quality control tools are easiest to apply in any environment.
